Story

There will be times when you won't have a set of scales handy to weigh out your coffee. Or you just might want a slightly more refined means of decanting your it from your bag or vacuum-sealed container to your grinder.

This natural wood, hand finished coffee scoop from Kinto Japan is a great alternative when you don't want to pack scales or appear too nerdy in front of your extended family.

As a stand-in for scales, it's undoubtedly less precise, but is consistent nonetheless. Following a lot of trialling inside and outside of our Roastery in Bethnal Green (and particularly on our trips to origin), we've found one generous scoop of coffee tends to equate to 17g – perfect for a cup for one. From there, we can scale up whilst still ensuring brews that are reliably delicious.

We'd recommend weighing a few doses at home to get a feel for your scoop, as each is unique, and then taking it on the road, safe in the knowledge you won't need to eyeball your coffee doses.

Details:

  • Do not use in a dishwasher.
  • Do not soak in water or place near open flames.
  • Dry well after use and store in a dry place.
  • Slight differences may occur as a result of being handmade. Colour and grain of the natural will also vary as a result.
